[Welcome to the Orange County Literacy Council]

The Orange County Literacy Council (OCLC) is a volunteer, community-based non-profit agency that has been serving adult learners since 1984. Our vision is to achieve 100% adult literacy in Orange County, NC in order to help adults achieve their employment, community, family and life goals. OCLC provides free individualized instruction to adults who want to improve their literacy skills in reading, writing, basic math and GED preparation.

The Orange County Literacy Council is a Triangle United Way member agency, and receives major funding for Family Literacy through Smart Start funds. The Council also receives funding from other public and non-profit sources including Orange County Government, and the towns of Chapel Hill, Carrboro and Hillsborough.
