Fundraising Ideas
Curse Jar
Find a BIG empty jar, attach any legible Orange County Literacy Council sign to it, and conspicuously display it in your place of business. Challenge folks to deposit cash into the jar every time they blurt out a profane word or phrase.
Bake Sale
Let’s face it…the crunchier, sweeter, and nuttier cookies, pies, and cakes are…the faster they sell. Organize a bake sale with a neighborhood friend, co-worker, or church member. Donate the sweet proceeds to OCLC.
Garage Sale
A garage, attic, closet, or basement is the perfect place to find items for a great “Garage Sale”. With just a little bit of organizing, you can host your own weekend sale or partner with friends to create a larger roadside event.
Loose Change
Develop a simple campaign by asking co-workers to give their spare change to OCLC. Challenge people by setting a goal amount by a specific time. Award gold and silver ribbons to those who contribute the most change.
On-Line Auction
E-bay and other types of auction sites make it easier to organize an on-line garage or auction sale. A group can organize a large campaign or an individual can sell on a smaller scale. Either way, OCLC will appreciate your time and effort in supporting literacy.
BBQ Dinners
First, pre-sell meal tickets to friends or folks in the community. Then, prepare BBQ lunches or dinners by organizing a group to cook on a certain day or weekend. A great fundraiser in every season of the year.
10K Run/Walk
Organize a simple pledge procedure, find a 10K running/walking route, and recruit participants to collect pledges and run/walk on behalf of OCLC. This is an all-around win-win opportunity.
