What are the Responsibilities of a Tutor?

Work one-on-one with a student or lead a small group of 2-7 students.
Provide student with positive support and encouragement.
Guide student in setting realistic short and long terms goals.
Meet on agreed days and times.
Regularly report to area program coordinator.
Submit monthly tutoring and preparation hours.
Log-in monthly report related to student.
Canceling an appointment? Call student in advance of date.
Contact area program coordinator with concerns.

How do I Become an Effective Tutor?

Begin by filling out our tutor application.
You will get an email with details about our tutor training workshops.

Once you are matched with a student or group:

Stay open and creative; “keep a beginner’s mind.”
Plan “learner-based approach” lessons.
Be mindful of the agency’s goals related to student progress.
Stop, look, hear, and listen to your student and their needs.
